  • This varies widely, and is very dependent on your unique needs and goals! There is no “right answer.” My hope is for this to be an ongoing open and collaborative discussion during our work together. Some people come to a place where they feel good about pausing or ending therapy because of their progress; while others maintain some level of therapy services long-term in order to continue to have space if new, ongoing, or returning concerns arise. It is a very personal decision and one I am happy to explore together as we go.

  • I offer recurring appointments weekly and every-other-week. I typically recommend meeting weekly as a starting point to establish trust and build a foundation for our work together. However, I understand finances and scheduling may make this difficult. Every-other-week appointments may be a more accessible starting point for some, and/or may be a cadence that is helpful to reduce to at some point.

    I also offer an “as needed” appointment frequency for established clients who are in a “maintenance phase” of their therapy journey and only need occasional support.

    My goal is for our session frequency to be an ongoing and open conversation that encompasses all of your needs, so we can continue to evaluate what will be most supportive for you.

  • All sessions are currently virtual and held via Simple Practice’s telehealth platform. Occasionally, if there are issues with their platform, we may use another HIPAA compliant platform as back-up (such as Google Meet, Doxy.me, or Zoom). If there are overall internet connectivity issues that we cannot troubleshoot, we can complete our session by phone, or you will have the option to reschedule or cancel your appointment.

    Please note that you must be in Texas at the time of our session due to licensing regulations. If you are planning to move or travel, I am happy to help you come up with a plan for ongoing care and support.

  • I work with adults (18+).

  • Art making skills are not at all necessary to participate in or benefit from art therapy. The beauty of art therapy is that it can be for anyone!

    I encourage you to read more about how I incorporate art therapy into individual therapy sessions here. For materials, they can be as simple as a pencil and a scrap piece of paper, or much more broad and expansive. It’s really about what is accessible to you, and what you feel comfortable with. We also have the option to use digital tools to make art on your computer. I’m always happy to talk more about materials for a specific project or for our overall work together.

  • Yes! I love collaborating with other providers on your care team to ensure we’re all working together to support you, whether this is your psychiatrist, dietitian, executive functioning coach, medical doctor, or any other professional you are working with. Within reason, this collaboration is included in your session fees.

  • I am happy to provide relevant clinical letters or documentation for existing clients as a part of our work together. This may include things such as FMLA, school/work accommodations, gender affirming care support letters, or ESA letters. I do request two weeks notice before a deadline when possible to complete clinical letters. Within reason, this is included in your session fees.

    The only clinical letter writing I offer as a standalone service to folks I do not see for individual therapy is pay-what-you-can support letters for gender affirming care.

  • I am not in-network with any insurance providers. I am able to provide “superbills”, which are detailed receipts, for out-of-network reimbursement. These are provided on a monthly basis via the client portal, and clients are responsible for submitting them with their insurance carrier. You can also use services like Thrizer and Mentaya to help you submit your superbills.

    Please be aware that insurance requires a clinical diagnosis for reimbursement, and may ask for your clinical notes to justify payment. Please also be aware that not all insurance plans offer out-of-network reimbursement, and I am unable to guarantee that you will receive payment from your insurance company.

  • Yes! I am able to accept HSA and FSA cards, regardless of if you choose to submit superbills. If you plan to use a HSA/FSA card to pay for our sessions together, I kindly ask you also provide a secondary payment card for fees not covered by HSA/FSA, such as late cancellation and no-show fees.

  • To ensure my ability to sustainably support clients and maintain a high quality of care, I evaluate my rates on an annual basis. Current clients will be given at least 60 days notice prior to any changes. My website reflects my most current, up to date rates for new clients.

  • I offer a few appointments a month for pay-what-you-can support letters for gender affirming care, which start at $0. Any payment I receive that exceeds my own costs will be used to help cover costs for clients who are unable to contribute financially.

    I do not currently have availability for reduced-fee individual therapy sessions. I totally understand if my fees are not accessible to you. Some low cost therapy options include:

    However, I do invite all existing clients to communicate with me if their financial situation ever changes, and offer plans to maintain care during hardship when possible.

  • Barring extenuating circumstances or an emergency (assessed on an case-by-case basis), missed appointments or those cancelled or rescheduled less than 24 hours in advance will incur the full charge of your appointment fee. If you arrive late to your session, we will still end at the scheduled end time and you will still be charged your full service fee for the shorter session.

    If I ever need to cancel or reschedule our appointment due to my own schedule conflicts, I will provide you with as much advance notice as possible, but not less than 24 hours unless there is an unforeseen illness or emergency on my part. You will not be charged for any appointment I cancel/reschedule. If I arrive late to your session, I will add missed time to ensure the full length of your service or a prorated rate if that is not possible.
